Staying in contact with other people – whether those other people are family, friends, or business contacts- is important. Unfortunately most of us don’t have nearly as much flexibility when it comes to staying in contact as we’d like. For example, there are times when you want to be contacted and lament the fact that it’s not easier for the people who you want to talk to to find you. At other times, you might just want to be left alone, but can’t get away from people who want something from you.

Now there’s a convenient and cost effective way to manage how you call other people and how they contact you via phone. This is due to a new type of technology called VOIP which stands for Voice Over Internet Protocol. VOIP technology has indeed been around for a number of years and is best known for letting people to make free or low cost long distance calls by using the Internet, instead of regular phone systems, to route those calls. Now VOIP technology has been expanded by a number of services to give people in greater control over how they handle both local and long distance calls. This is typically achieved by giving people the chance to change the options on their accounts over the Internet. For example, if there’s a business call that you absolutely have to receive, you can tell your VOIP account to forward that call to every phone that you could possibly be close by when you wait for that call. That way, when your client dials your business number, your business phone, your mobile, your home, your cousin’s, and your in law’s phones will all ring at once and keep ringing until one of them has picked up, your voice mail has picked up, or the caller hangs up.

Similar technology allows your business to handle various crises. For example, if you use VOIP technology for you business phone system in , you can have the phones of your and your employees ring in a set sequence when a client calls in need of support. That way, if the tech guy doesn’t pick up his phone, the call will be forwarded to the human resource manager’s telephone, and if she doesn’t pick up her phone, then your phone will ring. Any ringing sequence that you like can be assigned to the phones, and voice mail can always take care of it if no one picks up.

VOIP services also make it easy and cost effective to add more phone lines and even have them fed to the same handset. You can also give each line its own unique ring tone so that you know who the call is for, if it’s a business call or a personal call, or whatever. This option makes it possible to give each member of the household his or her own phone number and to keep from picking up each other’s calls. VOIP also get phone lines with numbers in other area codes to make it easier and cheaper for others to stay in contact with you.

Of course, if you want to take advantage of VOIP services, you need to have a broadband Internet connection. While a high speed DSL service will do, broadband cable is the service of choice for VOIP because it tends to have greater connection speeds. Even better, broadband cable will let you to save money by canceling your land line altogether! This is a enormous advantage for anyone who’s annoyed withall of the pointless surcharges on each bill that add up to almost as much as the service itself!

VOIP technology is a great way to take greater control of how you communicate with the people around you and save money in the process. This is the end of your search. Start today!

The biggest benefits of the latest technology in Voice over Internet Protocol – VoIP – are to small businesses, residences and home offices. It may seem a bit confusing when shopping for VoIP, but when you are finished and have found the right match, it will be worth it.

Broadband and DSL computer usage are already installed in many home offices and small businesses so adding VoIP technology will be quick and easy. This technology becomes a viable option for reducing the cost of long distance telephone calls.

Choosing to work with one of the bigger named carriers of VoIP technology will give you better customer service, a wider calling area, more features and new technology and reliability when you need a call to go through. Some of the newer, start up companies can offer the same, but you should check with their current customers to make sure they are happy with their services.

A few of the things to consider when choosing the right VoIP network for you are: price, quality of calls, customer support and service and ease of use of the hardware and software involved.

Pricing – several of the VoIP network companies offer ‘unlimited’ packages where you can make unlimited calls for a fixed rate per month. This is a good plan for a home or business because it’s a great way to budget your communications bill every month. Many of these ‘unlimited calling packages’ charge anywhere from $15 to $45 a month and come with a wide variety of calling features.

Standard VoIP features – many of the standard features with the VoIP networks are not standard with a regular telephone company and this is a great advantage. Some of these features include, voice mail, three way calling, call forwarding, caller ID, online account management and conference calling and much more. One of these features alone would cost you upwards of $7. 50 or more per month with a traditional phone company.

Contracts vs. no contracts – there are many companies that offer the VoIP services without locking you into a contract. They offer their services on a month to month bases and this works great for people who are about to move or small businesses who just started or a number of people who aren’t sure they want to stick with the VoIP networks.

VoIP hardware – with some VoIP networks, the equipment or hardware may be part of the contract and you will receive the ATA – analog telephone adaptor or an IP phone. The IP phone is a regular phone except it has an Ethernet connection where you plug the phone cord into. It makes the phone into a modem for your telephone system.

Where do you get VoIP services? – You can get the VoIP services through the Internet or through companies local to your area. They will provide you with all the hardware and software you will need to start making phone calls through the use of the VoIP service network.

VOIP is an advanced technology which has surpassed the telephone companies and the mobile companies. Its popularity is increasing enormously with an increase in its network coverage. It has proved to be an astonishing invention which has created a new mode of telecommunication by using internet. VOIP is an abbreviated form of Voice Over Internet Protocol. Salient Features Of VOIPThe VOIP technology possesses many salient features which have attracted a large section of people towards itself. 1 – With the introduction of VOIP technology, the making of calls has become easy and cheap. You can easily make local, long distance, and international calls by using a broadband net connection which is a high-speed net connection. 2 – Its one of the significant advantages is the capability of directing the incoming calls to the VOIP service and one can easily get the details of incoming calls from any computer possessing internet by using VOIP system. 3 – It is a network that follows you wherever you go therefore you will never miss any of your important calls even if you are out of town. 4 – It has helped a lot in cost reduction because of the cheap call rates, the monthly telephone bills have cut down. Therefore, setting up of VOIP is very much beneficial economically. 5 – There are many value added services offered by the various VOIP service providers. For example, there is voice mail facility, 3-way conference, speed dialing, call forwarding, simultaneous ring, call waiting, caller ID, call return, caller ID block, anonymous call rejection, an interesting feature of do not disturb, and last number dial. All these services are mostly free of cost in their basic service plan. 6 – There is a facility of managing your VOIP account online from any corner of the world if there is an availability of a broadband internet connection. Drawbacks Of VOIP TechnologyThe dark side of using VOIP technology has made the customer to reach the state of dilemma whether to go for VOIP technology or not. The major disadvantage of VOIP is that a problem can be cropped up by using VOIP technology and text messaging because it has been found that the use of this technology can lead to many security flaws. Experts are working on the problem of security flaws, but have not come to any results yet. Therefore, one cannot rely completely on the use of VOIP technology. In terms of security, VOIP is not also completely supportive for their encryptions. Because of this weak point, it has become easy for the cyber attackers to impede the communication system. How To Call Without VOIPIt is also very easy to make calls without possessing VOIP service by using an adaptor. This adaptor will be hooked up to a regular phone and to your VOIP in order to utilize the residential VOIP phone which can be a VOIP phone, landline, or cell phone. This adapter has proved to be very much useful for those who do not want to make investment in VOIP service. Residential VOIPResidential VOIP is a type of software which permits the downloading of technology on your computer to chat with anyone across the globe. In this system of communication, computer will be solving the purpose of the telephone. There is one specification in using residential VOIP service and that is the person whom you want to contact should also need to possess the software with same technology on his computer. Therefore, after considering the both positive and negative aspects of the VOIP technology, you should come to an apt and appropriate decision whether to opt for it or not.

Voice over Internet Protocol is recognized to be one of the key ways of terminating calls. This technology works on broadband networks where it is possible for the users to enjoy long distance calls at appreciably low charges. The physical limitations of long wires for ensuring connectivity can be done away with.

A computer or a laptop is sufficient for establishing connection with the aid of a modem. However, it is not just restricted to this. Traditional or regular phone lines can also used for availing these services with the help of special equipment such as the ATA (Analog Telephone Adaptor). The features offered by VoIP are numerous such as call blocking, call waiting, voice mail, caller ID and lots more.

The value of VoIP depends on the features that a service provider offers with its services. It is the features offered that aid in the building of a brand for the service provider. The connectivity is thus a matter of profound interest to people. Generally, the customers analyze the offers of all the service providers before availing any such offer.

The key features that lead to a good clientèle for VoIP service providers are the availability of caller ID options, fax, 3-way calling, call forwarding and call waiting. These features make the overall network very viable for the users to experience the best connectivity. They ensure that the users are not confronted with the same problems that they used to while using traditional telephone lines. Moreover, the network being wireless, it becomes possible for the users to overcome all the deadlocks of the past. It is now possible for the users to carry their laptops to distant places and yet remain connected. Some features that aid in providing extra efficiency are call blocking, voice mail and call transfer. Voice over connections work on the principle that it connects people after compressing the voice to digital packets. It thus becomes easy to transfer the messages over an Internet network. On reaching the receiver on the other end, the digital data reconverts into analog form which is then heard quite distinctly.

The best thing about VoIP technology is that it allows the user to make calls to a number of people simultaneously. Call conferencing is an option whereby it is possible for the user to make calls to up to six parties at the same time. There are certain soft keys that show certain changes with the progress of the call. This helps the user to remember certain options of call making such as call transfer, call conference, call forwarding and call parking. Thanks to all these options, VOIP business is currently flourishing in different parts of the world. As a matter of fact, many small and large corporate organizations are relying completely on the Internet and VoIP services for expanding their scope and scale of operations.

VOIP is the buzz word everywhere and it is time you understood the VOIP technology and why it is usurping the traditional telephone system. VOIP is an acronym for Voice over Internet Protocol, or simply stated, it is phone service over the Internet. If you have a broadband Internet connection, you can then get phone service delivered through the Internet connection instead of the local phone company.

You must know how different will the VOIP technology be over your conventional telephone system. There are, of course, a lot in common, but there are also some decided advantages that VOIP technology offers. VOIP will facilitate local, long distance and international telephone calls over your high-speed internet connection at incredibly low rates. VOIP technology is constantly getting updated and there are a lot of new features getting added.

Few of the attractive VOIP telephone system features are – voice mail, three-way conference, speed dialing, call forwarding, simultaneous ring, call waiting, caller ID, call return, caller ID block, anonymous call rejection, do not disturb feature, and last number redial. This is not to speak of the tremendous cost savings you can enjoy by switching over to VOIP.

An IP address identifies each IP phone, and it is known by this IP address regardless where it is plugged in. The only thing required would be a broadband connection. This makes the system both portable and flexible.

If you use VoIP through a PC-to-PC connection, then your calls are free anywhere, as long as, the receiver of the call also has VoIP. Further, most VoIP providers offer unlimited calling plans for calls made within a certain area, for single monthly fee. Whatever the use, one thing is abundantly clear – traditional phone service is much costlier. Most VOIP service providers also offer extra premium services such as caller id, without additional charges.

This is not to say that VOIP has no demerits. As a matter of fact, there was a recent press release stating the technical review conducted by the British government has found several security flaws in products that use VOIP. There is also concern that the VOIP does not full support its own encryptions yet. Thus it will be easy to eavesdrop on VOIP telephones and to even alter what is spoken.

Another major problem with VOIP is that it is run by power and if there is a power outage, your communications will come to a standstill. This is unlike traditional phone service, where you can still use your phone without the aid of electricity. Voice quality of VOIP is certainly efficient under normal conditions, but when you run into high traffic times in cable broadband, it could affect voice quality.

There is no denying that VOIP still has some drawbacks to be ironed out. You may exercise your discretion whether to go in for VOIP technology now or wait for some more time till these limitations are removed. It is reasonably expected that sooner than later, the research wing of the company will address these shortcomings and perfect the VOIP technology. But in the ultimate analysis, VOIP’s benefits outweigh its negatives and it is for the intending buyer to study the pros and cons and make an informed decision.
