Many things have been mentioned about the virtues of the many of possible VOIP solutions and how VOIP technology is one of the best inventions since the creation of the web. Many marketing campaigns have been put in action due to the fact that Voice over IP has so many advantages over regular phone service, that a baby could tell one is better than the other, so making a financially good decision in this field is not that confusing.

There are several phone companies out there that you would think by having so much competition that prices would be cheaper but they aren’t. Local phone companies who have no close competition are the worst of any kind, because they keep the prices high regardless of demand. They know that people need their service so they charge whatever they want. No pain no gain they say!. Well if you are one of those people that are or have experienced these problem there is a new solution for you , VoIP. VoIp short for Voice over Internet Protocol which is the most cost-effective technology right now available on the web.

Everyone that knows about VoIP is using it as well as spreading the word to everyone they know. VoIP works by modulating conversations into a digital digital packets of data that are transmitted over the web. If you want to call a regular phone number then the signal is changed back into a regular telephone signal before reaching its destination. Software applications which allow you to have voice communications through the web use the same technology. You can use VoIP to do all your calling for low rates. Unlike phone companies who often charge high rates per minute most VoIP providers only charge a small monthly fee, which other companies just can’t match. This would allow you to eliminate the need for one detailed bill a month. VoIP allows you to make international as well as local phone calls.

The truth is that you decide where you call and how much you want to pay. There are three calling options when using VoIp. You can call by using a VoIp telephone , using a normal telephone with a VoIP adapter or using a computer with the necessary equipment. With VoIP you can talk while working on the web. With some phone companies charging as much as thirty five cents a minute or hundreds for unlimited calling, Voice over internet protocol is the best choice for those who use the phone a lot. Its not only affordable but its more convenient.

If you are the type of person who travels a lot and only use your phone when you are home why pay so much for something you barely use?. VoIP is the modern technology that is a must have for anyone who owns a computer. Whether you just enjoy chatting on the phone or if you use it for business, VoIP is for you.

The first steps in accepting VoIP technology as tomorrow’s communications infrastructure is ultimately understanding exactly what VoIP is, what your choices there are, how you may benefit from your selection, plus, how to select the best provider.

There is no question that VoIP is the next great revolution in voice communications. After reviewing the advantages, its clear that the expense of switching to VoIP is low compared to the savings it can bring.

Getting started with VoIP is often simple. Yes, it can provide cheaper calling, but the real value of VoIP is that it opens up the ability to add new and useful applications to voice communications. The major advantage is the cheaper price.

VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) is simply the transmission of voice traffic over IP-based networks. VoIP has become popular largely because of the cost advantages to consumers over traditional telephone networks.

Telephone calls now can be placed either to other VoIP devices, or to normal telephones on the PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network).

VoIP technology, by its very nature, is more flexible and extensible than traditional voice transmission technologies due to its distribution and architecture. VoIP may seem complicated at first glance, but the concept is simple: Any form of communication that travels through a conventional phone line—voice calls, faxes, voice messages and conference calls—can also travel in digital form through an IP (Internet Protocol) network. VoIP, on the other hand, transmits the voice as digital packets, just as e-mail and Web browsing is transmitted.

VoIP has many advantages, including: Lower cost. Providers offer more competitive pricing for a couple of reasons. VoIP is not regulated by the FCC and is not subject to the same taxes as standard phone companies. Providers offer software-based telephone features unimaginable on traditional wireline or even most wireless telephone networks. In addition, plans do not charge a per-minute fee for long distance. For International calling, the monetary savings to the consumer from switching to this technology can be enormous.

There are three methods of connecting to a VoIP network:

-Using a VoIP telephone

-Using a “normal” telephone with a VoIP adapter

-Using a computer with speakers and a microphone

Calls from a VoIP device to a PSTN device are commonly called “PC-to-Phone” calls, even though the VoIP device may not be a PC.

Calls from a VoIP device to another VoIP device are commonly called “PC-to-PC” calls, even though neither device may be a PC.

Like many new technologies, it has started its economic life by reproducing familiar services and features from the established products it is trying to replace; in this regard, VoIP providers promote PBXs, call routing, automated voice response, and other things businesses are used to looking for.

More and more businesses today receive their telephone service through the Internet instead of from the local telephone company lines. The primary reason for switching to VoIP is cost, as it equalizes the costs of long distance calls, local calls, and e-mails to fractions of a penny per use. But the real enterprise turn-on is how it empowers businesses to mold and customize telecom and datacom solutions using a single, cohesive networking platform.

VoIP’s potential cost savings are obvious when a business considers running all of its calls over the same IP network it set up internally for data, as well as over a phone line to its internet provider (which could be its phone company).

With today’s ever-growing awareness of the benefits of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), more and more enterprises are implementing or converting to VoIP. While challenges still exist in the adoption of VoIP, the benefits of this technology over traditional voice networks are many from increased productivity and operational flexibility, to greater cost reductions and investment protection.

You must have many a times heard about VoIP and VoIP gateways. But do you know what these technologies actually are? To understand what a VoIP gateway is, you first need to understand what VoIP technology is. VoIP is the term used for Voice over Internet Protocol . It refers to the technology which facilitates transmission of voice traffic over internet networks. Internet protocol was originally developed for sharing data. After its immense success, the technology was adapted for sharing voice networking. More and more number of business organizations have started to use VoIP instead of the traditional PSTN for communicating because it is cheaper and more useful than the other mediums of voice communications. Some of the benefits of using VoIP technology and VoIP phones include: VoIP facilitates to transmit more than one phone call on a single broadband phone line. Therefore, more telephone lines can be installed by the business at a lower cost. Like business phone systems, VoIP phones too, have many advanced features such as call forwarding, caller ID, call waiting etc. For these features, the businesses don’ t have to pay any extra charges. VoIP offers unified and secured communications, which can be integrated with other internet based services such as video conferencing, web conferencing etc for enhancing the business communication. Now let us discuss what VoIP gateways are. Gateways are devices which convert telephony traffic into internet protocol so that data can be transferred over a network. These are generally used in the following two ways: For converting PSTN to VoIP. A VoIP gateway facilitates to receive and place VoIP calls on a regular telephone network. With the VoIP technology, businesses can make larger volumes of calls at much lower prices. To connect traditional PBX and other business phone systems to an IP network. A VoIP gateway allows making a call using VoIP technology instead of a regular telephone line. Business can either buy these services from a reputed and reliable VoIP service provider or can route the calls through the internet to reduce the call charges. VoIP gateways are available in the form of external units and PCI cards. However, most of the business organizations prefer using the external units as their VoIP devices. Every VoIP gateway has a connector for getting connected to the IP network and one or more number of ports for connecting the phones lines to it.

VoIP, more formally known as voice over internet protocol, is a system widely used by larger companies that involves the transmissions of voice communications over IP networks that comprise of either the internet or other packet-switching mediums. VoIP systems are highly favorable to businesses because the transmission of voice data over bandwidth-efficient networks can drastically reduce company phone costs as opposed to the traditional copper-wire telephone systems. Some of the technological advantages of VoIP is that it can amalgamate various types of communications services – treating otherwise external communication channels, such as facsimile, telephone, cell phone, e-mail etc. as separate but identical units giving them the capability to be transferred to any handset, including mobile phones – these benefits can be attributed to the internet’s inherent packet-switching ability. As for the advantages of packet switching, these aptly justify the cost cutting claims of those who promote the use of VoIP because it allows for several telephone calls to occupy the amount of space occupied normally by one single data entity on a circuit-switched network.

So you now understand the basic concept of VoIP technology, but you want to understand just how exactly packet switching works, right? Easy. Packet-switched phone networks are said to be the new replacements for conventional circuit switching systems. Normal telephone calls involve a continuous stream of data flow, most of it being wasted data as there are often intervals of silence in your average phone conversation. Packet-switching involves the compression of voice data into packets, and these packets are subsequently transmitted in extremely fast intervals. Your voice within a singular data packet is called a payload, and the receiving module reassembles the packet data to unlock the contained payloads. This skillful data compression technique unique to VoIP technology means that from a fiscal point of view, you are only effectively being charged for the data contained in the payloads. Don’t worry too much about the efficiency of packet-switching either – most companies use broadband networks with an extremely powerful bandwidth, so in comparison to your standard copper-wire (PTSN) phone call, you can guarantee that the cost of your VoIP call will be halved, possibly even one-third of the original cost of a conventional phone line.

VoIP is a technology that has still not been perfected, however many companies are starting to integrate this new technology as more and more companies initiate their businesses around online telecommunications. For example, Skype has established itself as the premier free to use VoIP network for businesses. International calls can be made via programs such as Skype for minimal cost. It is only a matter for time before the vast majority of developing

The world of communications is opening up to consumers around the globe and the reason for that is Voice over Internet Protocol, otherwise known as VoIP.

Using VoIP phone service is simple and in many cases more convenient for customers than using a traditional land line to land line connection. In fact, most consumers are delighted to find out that no land line is needed for making VoIP calls. All that is needed is an Internet connection. In remote locations where phone service is either non-existent or unreliable; Internet connections via satellite have opened up a whole new world of voice communications.

In the past few years, VoIP providers have grown in numbers offering more competitive services and rates to consumers. In some cases VoIP to VoIP calls are free to customers the world over and this is especially true in places that have currently low traffic on their VoIP lines and in other cases, there may be a small charge incurred by the VoIP user for calling a land line or Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN).

There are two main types of land line to VoIP services. The first is by direct dialing where the land line user calls a number the connects directly to the VoIP user. The other type is using an access number where a local number is dialed and an extension number that has been assigned to the VoIP user is dialed, thereby connecting the call.

VoIP has opened up communications and the ability for smaller countries to compete in the global market by having access to both contacting clients and customers all over the world via VoIP services. This levels the playing field and allows companies to offer direct one-on-one customer service to anyone that needs to speak to a representative about a product or service or someone that needs help with a purchase they have made, even if that customer is half a world away. The zero to low VoIP rates on most calls make this a very economical form of business communication as well as for personal use for families that are scattered around the globe to keep in touch.

Mobile phones are also being seamlessly integrated into VoIP communications. Phones with WiFi are VoIP capable and this allows cell phone uses to also take advantage of the affordable VoIP rates for calling around the world, however pay close attention to your own cell phone. company’s charges for Internet access when using WiFi. This is often a very economical way for International travelers to keep in touch with their company or family when on the road.

Fees for VoIP can vary from country to country. Many VoIP services are offering flat rates for in-country dialing and some countries offer free VoIP to VoIP calling no matter where the calls are made. It’s worth it to look around and see what is available so you get the best VoIP service rate.

The demand for VoIP is continuing to grow and as the technology develops, more and more consumers around the world will continue to benefit from this state of the art form of communication that makes it easier than ever for both businesses and individuals to just stay in touch.
