			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>VoIP, more formally known as voice over internet protocol, is a system widely used by larger companies that involves the transmissions of voice communications over IP networks that comprise of either the internet or other packet-switching mediums. VoIP systems are highly favorable to businesses because the transmission of voice data over bandwidth-efficient networks can drastically reduce company phone costs as opposed to the traditional copper-wire telephone systems. Some of the technological advantages of VoIP is that it can amalgamate various types of communications services &#8211; treating otherwise external communication channels, such as facsimile, telephone, cell phone, e-mail etc. as separate but identical units giving them the capability to be transferred to any handset, including mobile phones &#8211; these benefits can be attributed to the internet&#8217;s inherent packet-switching ability. As for the advantages of packet switching, these aptly justify the cost cutting claims of those who promote the use of VoIP because it allows for several telephone calls to occupy the amount of space occupied normally by one single data entity on a circuit-switched network.<br/><br/>So you now understand the basic concept of VoIP technology, but you want to understand just how exactly packet switching works, right? Easy. Packet-switched phone networks are said to be the new replacements for conventional circuit switching systems. Normal telephone calls involve a continuous stream of data flow, most of it being wasted data as there are often intervals of silence in your average phone conversation. Packet-switching involves the compression of voice data into packets, and these packets are subsequently transmitted in extremely fast intervals. Your voice within a singular data packet is called a payload, and the receiving module reassembles the packet data to unlock the contained payloads. This skillful data compression technique unique to VoIP technology means that from a fiscal point of view, you are only effectively being charged for the data contained in the payloads. Don&#8217;t worry too much about the efficiency of packet-switching either &#8211; most companies use broadband networks with an extremely powerful bandwidth, so in comparison to your standard copper-wire (PTSN) phone call, you can guarantee that the cost of your VoIP call will be halved, possibly even one-third of the original cost of a conventional phone line.<br/><br/>VoIP is a technology that has still not been perfected, however many companies are starting to integrate this new technology as more and more companies initiate their businesses around online telecommunications. For example, Skype has established itself as the premier free to use VoIP network for businesses. International calls can be made via programs such as Skype for minimal cost. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>VoIP in Texas is becoming a growing trend in the recent years. Since 2004 the trend has skyrocketed not only among Texas VoIP subscribers but all around the country. Texas has and will remain to be a trend setter for the rest of the country since it is such a large state and very populated.<br/><br/>VoIP stands for Voice over Internet protocol. VoIP allows users to have normal phone access through an internet service provider but still use regular phone networks. Which helps users avoid unnecessary long distance charges? For companies the use of VoIP is more practical than regular phones because it allows the companies to cut major costs on their phone bills.<br/><br/>Several Texas VoIP users, especially larger companies, can gain a good advantage from the extras VoIP’s have to offer. Since almost every company uses multiple lines and VoIP’s in Texas can have more than one call going over the same connection at the same time it makes it simple for adding those multiple lines.<br/><br/>There are several other features that companies can enjoy from VoIP providers such as conference calling, caller ID, call forwarding, and automatic redial. Normal telephone companies charge a decent amount for each of these features where VoIP subscribers pay very little to nothing for them. Also since VoIP’s are already digital it makes for getting a secure line much easier as all they have to do is encrypt the already provided data stream.<br/><br/>Several other technology advancements are also coming into the market for Texas VoIP users. Since the VoIP phones are on the same data level as computers it opens up new possibilities for upcoming features such as call routing.<br/><br/>As with any technology though VoIP does have a couple of downfalls especially for VoIP in Texas. Since Texas has many hurricane issues the biggest problem with VoIP is that it runs off of modems. Which in turn run off regular power so in the case of Texas VoIP users if a hurricane causes the power to go out they won’t be able to use their phones?<br/><br/>Since normal phones don’t rely on traditional electric they are still preferred in some instances over the new technology. The other downfall is not as big but its still causes problems for some users. The fact that VoIP is hardly mobile makes some users skeptical to switch to it. However, with emerging technologies such as Wi-Fi and WiMax it’s predicted that those new technologies will allow VoIP’s to be more mobile, universal, and more widely accepted.<br/><br/>Some Texas VoIP subscribers that are larger companies struggle with the problem of highly congested networks. Since VoIP is so easy to add lines to and expand the network it opens up the problem of momentary voice drop out and lower voice quality due to lost or delayed data packets. As technology advances though this problem will continue to diminish.<br/><br/>Although there are still some bugs to work out for VoIP’s in Texas, the convenience and cost effectiveness of the technology out weighs the downside for most Texas VoIP users.<br/><br/><br/><br/><br />
