Like any new product, service, or technology, one of the most important factors for the expansion of VOIP technology and use of VOIP phone systems is the need to offer a strong enough package of services to displace whatever is already taking up their potential space in the market place. Not only do VOIP services have to be impressive enough to convince people to switch off of land based lines and cellular phone towers, but to win consumers over rival VOIP companies. The development of VOIP phone services has lasted long enough, and developed enough strong positives, that it is not likely to be just another flash in the pan, here today and gone tomorrow bout of technology. Unlike eight-tracks, VOIP is here to stay. The spread of VOIP has been successful enough that there are several large competing companies, as well as many smaller ones, vying against one another and traditional telecommunications companies in an attempt to win more consumers. While different companies are obviously going to have different service plans, prices, and optional features; there are a number of general advantages that virtually all VOIP service companies will have in common, as all of them need to keep a leg up on the older and more established technological systems. One notable example is that all of these companies will offer an abundance of extra features that come included in the basic service plan with no additional costs or hidden fees. Many of those service plans will also be comparable in cost with what you would usually have to pay for a normal land based phone line. Some of the extra features and services that most VOIP companies offer to customers for free that traditional phone companies charge extra for include voice mail, caller ID, last number dialed calling, call transfers, call forwarding, call waiting, and voice mail. Obviously different companies have different packages, so before making a decision always be sure to check the offers of each individual company you are considering. Additional VOIP services focus around the flexibility that having VOIP allows. Many of the aforementioned bonuses are even better because since VOIP uses the Internet, the settings on your VOIP phone can be changed and used from anywhere you can access your account online. For example, you can use any computer with Internet to use call forwarding. If you are an independent businessman or just anyone who finds themselves in a situation where you need to have calls to your home or office number forwarded to your mobile phone, this feature allows you to still set that up via online, even if you forgot to set it up at your office or back home before leaving. Some company’s plans allow you access to voice mail through your online account or have it forwarded to your email. These are just some of the great VOIP services that are offered by various companies, and can be a great blessing to someone who needs those extras but hates paying extra for services that have become necessary.

Alternative telephony solutions just got more innovative with VoIP as the new age lingo of telecommunication emerges as the biggest grosser amidst all 21st century innovations. Cutting through traditional circuits- switched telephone lines VoIP telephony transmits data over Internet protocol opposed to telephone lines which would carry analogue data signals spread across the length of the topography.

What helps voip technology cut competition over the conventional phone lines is its smart, cost effective and innovative technology that matches the beat with this century and taps the most prominent and relevant tool of communication- the Internet.

Today you don’t have to invest in fancy gadget and tedious installations to reach a friend miles away. VoIp telephony brings you the option to dial a call at the convenience of your laptop to a friend at the other end of the globe.

Though call quality was originally a problem with VoIP customers, but progressive technology and high competition in the domain has helped VoIP providers evolve their technology to one which is simple, cost effective and innovative.

Before we understand the working system of VoIP technology it is essential to understand that high speed Internet is a prerequisite to carry out VoIP calls. Once we are able to establish that, calling via the Internet only remains a simple hassle free task.

How VoIP telephony functions is that- once a VoIP calls originates from a computer or a phone, it travels to the server of the broadband service provider in small packets of data. This data is transferred via cables after being converted from analogue signals to digital signals at high speed to reach the other end where it is converted back to a user comprehensible format i. e analogue.

A VoIP call is completed when the caller and callee send and receive audio data packed in a digital format and that brings the desire of cheap, effective telephony to life!

VoIP or Voice over Internet Protocol is the most cost-effective means of telecommunication. It allows you to use your computer and the Internet to communicate with anybody. The only cost involved in it is the broadband or dial up connection. This method is known as Residential VOIP, just opposite to a VOIP Business Phone System.

As a rule, to use your VoIP system effectively, you should be sitting in front of your computer. This is because the voice of the person you are speaking to will come through the speakers of your computer. Likewise, you will need to speak into a microphone attached to your computer. Like using a headset for conventional telephones, having a headset for your VoIP system is also possible and it is just as convenient.

A VOIP headset is comfortable to use and it fits on the head in the same way as a headset for any landline. It comes with an ear piece and a small microphone that fits close to the mouth. Therefore, one can hear the voice of the person via the ear piece as well as talk into the microphone of the headset.

What residential VoIP means is that you can download the technology onto your computer. Then you can communicate with your family and friends the exact manner you would do on the telephone. But this time you are using your computer as a telephone instead of the telephone set. Your family and friends with whom you want to talk also need to have the technology on their computers.

It is very easy to download and use this technology. Once the technology is installed, you can make and receive calls as you can do with your fixed phone. You can replace the analogue phone line and use broadband phone as your primary phone. The voice signal transmitted over the internet using VoIP technology is considered as data service. That is why, VoIP phone service is free from long distance fees paid by local phone companies.

Many things have been mentioned about the virtues of the many of possible VOIP solutions and how VOIP technology is one of the best inventions since the creation of the web. Many marketing campaigns have been put in action due to the fact that Voice over IP has so many advantages over regular phone service, that a baby could tell one is better than the other, so making a financially good decision in this field is not that confusing.

There are several phone companies out there that you would think by having so much competition that prices would be cheaper but they aren’t. Local phone companies who have no close competition are the worst of any kind, because they keep the prices high regardless of demand. They know that people need their service so they charge whatever they want. No pain no gain they say!. Well if you are one of those people that are or have experienced these problem there is a new solution for you , VoIP. VoIp short for Voice over Internet Protocol which is the most cost-effective technology right now available on the web.

Everyone that knows about VoIP is using it as well as spreading the word to everyone they know. VoIP works by modulating conversations into a digital digital packets of data that are transmitted over the web. If you want to call a regular phone number then the signal is changed back into a regular telephone signal before reaching its destination. Software applications which allow you to have voice communications through the web use the same technology. You can use VoIP to do all your calling for low rates. Unlike phone companies who often charge high rates per minute most VoIP providers only charge a small monthly fee, which other companies just can’t match. This would allow you to eliminate the need for one detailed bill a month. VoIP allows you to make international as well as local phone calls.

The truth is that you decide where you call and how much you want to pay. There are three calling options when using VoIp. You can call by using a VoIp telephone , using a normal telephone with a VoIP adapter or using a computer with the necessary equipment. With VoIP you can talk while working on the web. With some phone companies charging as much as thirty five cents a minute or hundreds for unlimited calling, Voice over internet protocol is the best choice for those who use the phone a lot. Its not only affordable but its more convenient.

If you are the type of person who travels a lot and only use your phone when you are home why pay so much for something you barely use?. VoIP is the modern technology that is a must have for anyone who owns a computer. Whether you just enjoy chatting on the phone or if you use it for business, VoIP is for you.

Voice Over Internet Protocol is a relatively new method of sending and receiving telephone calls. Sometimes called IP telephony, internet telephony, broadband telephony broadband phone, or voice over broadband, VOIP technology allows you to make voice calls using a broadband internet connection, rather than a regular (analog) traditional phone line. Basically, it is the routing of voice conversations over the internet or through any other IP-based network.

The main benefit of using VOIP technology is that you can use your internet connection, which you are already paying for, to place long distance calls, completely circumventing local phone companies and their charges. Voice Over Internet Protocol does not carry the same taxes and other fees that local phone companies do.

How does VOIP work?

Traditional analog phone connections use analog technology. Simply put, the technology used in Voice Over Internet Protocol works by converting your voice from this analog signal into a digital signal, which can then be sent over the internet. If you are calling a regular phone, the digital signal is converted back into a traditional analog signal before it reaches the destination.

There are three main methods in which Voice Over Internet Protocol is used:

The most common way in which VOIP is used is with an ATA, or Analog Telephone Adaptor. This adaptor allows your existing phone to be used. The phone is connected to the adaptor, which is then routed through your computer and connected to the internet.

Another common way VOIP technology is being used is through the use of IP phones. These phones are specially designed to be used with a VOIP connection. In most ways, they are very similar to traditional house phones, except that rather than having a traditional phone line connector, the IP phones have an Ethernet connector. These IP phones plug directly into your internet router, bypassing the actual PC itself. The actual computer is then not required to be used with the phone. The necessary technologies are self-contained in the actual phone, and connected to the internet directly through the router.

The third most common method of using VOIP technology is called computer to computer, or PC to PC, calling. This method is entirely free and is not subject to any taxes or fees found with local telephone companies. The only things you need are an internet connection, any necessary VOIP software, a computer, and a microphone and speakers.
